On-Campus Recruiting
The University Career Center provides your organization with professional on-campus recruiting opportunities. You may list career opportunities, internships and part-time jobs through our online recruiting system, KU Career Connections. Qualified employers will receive access to our student resume database for web resume viewing. We also will assist you with resume referrals based on your criteria.
We support several online interview schedule types: pre-select schedules, open schedules, and career opportunity posting referred to as a resume drop. We provide professional interview rooms for your on-campus interviews in our facility. In order to accommodate your recruiting dates, please contact our office at least two months prior to your desired date. However, we will assist you with securing interview space for your immediate recruiting needs on a space available basis. Please call our recruiting staff to schedule your on-campus interview dates.

http://ku-csm.symplicity.com/employers. Recruiters may also fax, mail, or email current career opportunities that are available in their organization. Our recruiting staff posts openings on KU Career Connections, which is accessible by our registered students and alumni. Your opportunity listing includes the position description, desired candidate qualifications, and recruiting dates for this position. Students and alumni may view this information, post their resumes for your review, and include other documentation required by employers such as a cover letter or writing sample. Career Opportunity Listings are often distributed to professors in related departments for announcement to their classes and listing on their student list-serve. Career opportunities are also posted in the Career Center Resource Library, which is available to all of our students.
Information Sessions
Recruiters may choose to hold an information session at a convenient location on campus or other local facility the evening before interviews, or several weeks prior to interviews. These events provide opportunities to meet students in a less formal environment. Many employers bring KU alumni from their organizations to speak to potential candidates about the career opportunities available, their school-to-hire experiences and their current career path. Our recruiting professionals will assist with location, reservations of facilities and online publicity for these sessions.
Employer Literature
Employers may mail or bring employer information, brochures, company informational binders and other items for placement in the UCC Lobby for viewing by students and visitors. Your employer information keeps your name in front of our students year round. We suggest binders with testimonials from KU alumni who work for your organization.
Campus Advertising
Recruiters are encouraged to advertise their campus activities and employment opportunities in the student newspaper, The University Daily Kansan. This publication is distributed Monday-Friday throughout the campus during the academic year. Another form of advertising is through employer flyers and posters that can be posted in student populated areas such as the Student Union, dormitories and eating facilities, and in various academic buildings. Our recruiting professionals will arrange to distribute your flyers and posters throughout the campus.
Mock Interviews
Our office conducts mock interview opportunities for our students each semester. Employers may participate for a full day or half day of interviews. Each interview period is thirty minutes; fifteen to twenty minutes of interviewing and ten to fifteen minutes of employer critique. An employer-conducted mock interview is a valuable career tool for our students and an opportunity for employers to increase their visibility on our campus.
Career Workshops
Recruiters are invited to conduct workshops that are open to all KU students and alumni. Suggested workshop topics have included: First Day on the Job, The Successful Candidate, Resumes That Work or Buzz Words for Our Industry. These workshops provide students a unique view of the professional world and provide employers an opportunity to introduce their organization and their organizational culture to a diverse student population. If you would like to participate in these events, please contact our recruiting staff.
Career Fair
Career Fairs provide recruiters an excellent opportunity to meet students from freshman through graduate standing. The University Career Fair is held in a central location on campus once each academic year. Currently, more than 150 organizations participate either one day or both days of the career fair. We encourage you to bring KU alumni with you from your organization.
Recruiters are invited to sponsor Career Fair activities and receive recognition in advertising used to promote our Career Fair. This recognition includes radio ads, banners, newspaper articles and ads, Career Center web page, special signage at our Career Fair and permanent recognition in the Career Center at Burge Union.
Other Events
We present several additional events throughout the academic year that provide employers opportunities to participate and increase their campus visibility. Etiquette Dinners, additional targeted career fairs such as the Internship Fair, Volunteer Fair, Social Work Career Fair, Environmental and Life Sciences Career Fair, Public Service Career Fair, Education Career Fair and Architecture and Urban Planning Career Fair. Faculty Luncheons and Classroom Interaction
We offer recruiters many opportunities to interact with our students and faculty, such as recruiter hosted faculty luncheons or participation in classroom discussions. Recruiters may host luncheons for faculty and university administrators in a private room of the Student Union or other locations on campus. These informal yet professional settings offer recruiters an opportunity to meet our faculty and some of the invited administrators. Recruiters may utilize this setting for presentations about their organization and career opportunities available for our students. Recruiters may wish to participate in classroom activities or lectures. Faculty and staff from various fields of study welcome your professional perspective, which reinforces the academic endeavor. Our recruiting staff will assist with facility reservations and other arrangements for your luncheons and classroom visits.
Partnership with UCC
The University Career Center offers many opportunities to increase your visibility on our campus. The UCC professional staff is ready to partner with you in your recruiting efforts. For suggestions on how to increase your visibility on our campus, please contact our Employment Services Manager, Liz Caldwell, at lcaldwell@ku.edu. We will work with you to accommodate your professional request. With all partnership and gift/sponsorship activities we will provide permanent recognition in our Career Center offices and include your employer name as a professional partner in our advertising for one year.
Additional Information
Our services are available to all KU students. Our primary mission is service to students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the schools of Architecture, Education and Social Welfare. Separate career centers are maintained for students in Business, Engineering, Fine Arts, Journalism and Law. UCC, Business, Engineering, Fine Arts and Journalism share a common recruiting database that includes resumes of students and alumni, current career opportunities posted by employers/recruiters and career center staff, part-time jobs and internships.

University statement on military recruitment on campus
The university has been asked whether ROTC or other military recruiters are allowed to recruit and be present at job fairs on campus. Lynn Bretz, Director of University Communications, issued the following statement for the university:
“The University of Kansas allows military recruitment on campus, as required by federal law. What’s more, the university values ROTC's presence on campus and the service of our citizens in the national defense system. The university also acknowledges that some individuals in our community oppose the ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy of the U. S. Department of Defense. Those individuals have the right to protest the policy, just as students have the right to choose whether or not to seek career opportunities and service in the military.”
