Jayhawk Journey
Click on the image to download the PDF edition of Jayhawk Journey. The file is approximately 4 megabytes.
Being a Jayhawk means you are committed to learning, and open to experiences and ideas that will challenge and strengthen you. Along your career journey, you will discover new things about yourself and the world around you that will help you grow and develop both personally and professionally.
The University Career Center has developed this guide to help you identify your passions and turn them into meaningful career opportunities. Keep in mind that your career journey is a process and does not end once you decide on a major or occupation. Therefore, you may want to revisit this guide periodically to reassess changes in yourself and the world of work.
We have organized this guide into four parts, but it does not have to be completed in any particular order. Read through the descriptions and begin your journey with the area that best describes where you are in the career development process. Throughout the guide you will be presented with a number of activities indicated by a green light:

Your interests, skills, and values heavily influence the decisions you make. This part of your career journey involves gaining knowledge about yourself and understanding your personal characteristics and needs.
This leg of your journey involves gathering information about the many careers and occupational fields available to you.
In this part of your career journey, you will learn different ways to "test drive" careers you are considering and gain valuable skills for the job market.
This leg of the journey involves integrating the knowledge you gain about yourself and the world of work to help you develop a career plan to explore further.
